Ghayda’s Ph. D. is in Sociolinguistic and Translation: English-Arabic-English. She is Associate Teaching Professor in the Department of Arabic and Islamic Studies at Georgetown University. Her research interests lean heavily towards Critical News Discourse Analysis of Arabic print media and its interaction with the western media. She has a strong passion to improve communications and understanding between two disparate cultures of the Arab and the Western. She worked as a freelance journalist 1995-2004 Research and Teaching grants. She is the founder of Ali Long Cultural Community Center; a safe space where she can work toward a world based on understanding rather than stereotypes, a place to bridge the cultural gaps and work toward a world where the concept of “the other” does not exist
